Tulsa - Oklahoma City University announced today it has received a signed letter of intent from a six-time United States Girls' Wrestling Association all-American.
Kristi Garr of Goodrich, Michigan is the first women's wrestling recruit to sign with the Stars for the 2010-11 season.
"Kristi is one of the top female recruits in the nation for 2010," said OCU coach Archie Randall. "We feel she will make an immediate impact at 44 (kilograms) and later at 48."
At Goodrich High School, Garr is a three-time Michigan folkstyle state champion, a six-time Michigan freestyle girls state champion and a three-time USGWA national champion.
In addition, Garr wrestled for the two-time defending state champion men's wrestling team at Goodrich, posting a 67-and-23 overall record in three seasons, including 25-and-8 as a junior.
At OCU, Garr will join a team that won the WCWA team title and second consecutive NWCA National Duals championship last year.
