The award is presented yearly to the best defensive end in college football.
In three games, Beal has nine tackles (five for losses) and three sacks. He has also forced a pair of fumbles.
English has five tackles (two for loss) and one sack.
The watch list will be trimmed to five or six finalists later this season and the winner will be announced December ninth.
