Tulsa - Whatever Jenks head coach Allan Trimble said at halftime, it worked.
The top-ranked Jenks Trojans trailed Claremore 7-6 after 24 minutes, but exploded in the second half to beat the Zebras 34-to-13 Friday night at Hunter-Dwelley Stadium in Jenks.
Jenks (4-0, 1-0 District 6A-3) racked up 334 yards rushing, including 263 yards and two second-half touchdowns from Zach Langer.
The Trojan offense sputtered in the first half, netting only a pair of Brad Haus field goals (33 and 24 yards). But, the Trojans at least had the lead. That is, until just before halftime.
Gavin Little launched a deep pass to Jordan Basks to the three yard line, then followed it with a two-yard touchdown toss to Tyler Butcher with 29 seconds left in the first half.
At the break, Claremore stunningly was ahead 7-to-6.
But, it wouldn't last. Jenks came out in the second half and struck quickly, scoring three third-quarter touchdowns, including a 10-yard touchdown pass from Sawyer Kollmorgen to Brandon Kitchens that gave the Trojans the lead for good.
Kollmorgen would finish the night 15-of-27 for 169 yards and a touchdown. Kitchens caught eight of his passes for 79 yards and a score.
Jenks plays next week at winless Sapulpa, which is coming off a 52-to-7 loss to Broken Arrow Friday night. Claremore will host Memorial. The Chargers fell to 2-and-2 with Thursday night's 41-27 loss to Sand Springs.
