Seven Indian tribes in eastern Oklahoma are getting federal grants to help improve housing availability and economic conditions. The Indian Community Development Block Grants are being given by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Choctaw Nation, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Ottawa Tribe and the United Keetowah Band of Cherokees are each receiving $800,000.

The Quapaw Tribe and the Seneca-Cayuga will each get just under $800,000 while the Wyandotte Nation is getting just over $750,000.
The money can be used for housing, community facilities such as roads or buildings and for economic development projects.
