Players in the Central Hockey League have gone on strike over a new collective bargaining agreement just days before the start of training camps.
The league includes teams in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
The Professional Hockey Players Association that represents the players called the strike Tuesday.
The union and the league started negotiations on a new agreement in May but have yet to reach a deal.
The union announced the strike on its Web site, saying the league hasn't responded to issues of a salary cap, off-ice insurance, per diem and travel reimbursement.
CHL commissioner Duane Lewis says the league expects to open its season on Oct.17.
