Oklahoma City - It took nearly two months for authorities to identify her daughter, but a Henryetta woman hopes it won't take as long to figure out what led to her death.
Seventeen-year-old Tesla Applegate was found bloodied and lying in the road in southeast Oklahoma City on June 21st. She died five days later, but it took weeks before she was identified.
Oklahoma City police believe her death was suspicious. But the state medical examiner's office hasn't ruled it a homicide, even though it was determined Applegate died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Applegate's mother, Shelby Masters is convinced her daughter was murdered.
She had spoken to Applegate the day she died and said her daughter told her she was going to go to school.
After not hearing from Applegate, Masters went to the Oklahoma City Police Department August 3rd and filled out a missing persons report, weeks after Applegate had died.
Masters identified her daughter by a tattoo and a photo of her battered face taken while she was in the hospital.
