Man Attacked By A Large Cat Dies

Broken Arrow, OK - An animal handler who was attacked by a Liger on Wednesday has passed away.
Handler Peter Getz died overnight due to severe injuries he sustained in the attack.
Getz had been a volunteer at the Broken Arrow sanctuary for the past year and a half.
State wildlife officials are investigating the incident. No word yet on what will happen to the Liger.
A Liger is a cross between a male lion and a female tiger.

What a tragedy. Someone doing what he loves doing. My thoughts go out to his family.
I am in agreement though with not putting down the animal. They are wild and do have instincts that we can't predict. We can't assume how something will act 100% of the time regardless of how much interaction we have had with it. Always have to proceed with caution and be prepared for the unexpected-
