Tulsa - A storm system is making its way eastward into Oklahoma and could trigger some showers and thunderstorms tonight. But, the best chances for rain and even possibly some severe weather, will come on Thursday.
A few storms could develop along and west of a line from Bartlesville to Tulsa to Talihina after midnight Wednesday night ahead of the storm system. In addition, a line of storms is expected to develop in west-central Oklahoma and move into Osage and Pawnee counties by Thursday morning.
The line of storms will continue to move across northeastern Oklahoma during the day Thursday and into Thursday evening.
Some storms could reach severe limits with hail up to nickel size and strong, damaging winds being the primary threats. While the tornado threat is very minimal, severe storms are capable of producing tornadoes.
Another threat from the storms is the chance for heavy rain. Since the ground has already been saturated from previous rains, the potential exists for flooding. One to two inch rainfall totals can be expected from some storms, which may be enough to cause flooding in some areas.
A flood watch could be issued for parts of northeastern Oklahoma later today.
Expect much better weather for the weekend as the storm system moves out of the area, leaving behind mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid 60s.
