Tulsa - Oklahoma State freshman punter Quinn Sharp has been recognized as one of 42 candidates for the Ray Guy Award, presented to the nation's top punter.
Sharp has punted 30 times this season for a 45.3 yard average, which leads the Big 12 and is seventh in the nation. Twelve of his punts have pinned the opponent inside their 20 yard line and 11 of them have exceeded 50 yards. His longest this season has been a pair of 61-yard kicks -- one against Georgia and another against Rice.
Sharp also handles kickoff duties for Oklahoma State. Nearly half of his kicks have resulted in touchbacks.
Sharp will be looking to make it two in a row for the Cowboys. OSU's Matt Fodge earned the award last year.
The list of 42 candidates will be trimmed to ten semifinalists on November 13th. Three finalists will then be chosen and the winner will be announced December 10th during the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show.
