Oh, that's hilarious. So, what does the ratings of a news program have to do with this? Obviously someone from channel 6 is chiming in here. So, since you're from Channel 6, why don't you tell us why your reporter wasn't holding the school responsible for not telling parents? You reported that the school said police told them not to tell. You didn't ask the police? Looks like channel 8 beat you to that one, too. Have your ratings all you want. I'll side with a reporter who asks a tough question and doesn't just take what is told him.

Well CC1, Tami probably quit KTUL for the same reasons Travis and LeAnn left...it's a sinking ship (not my opinion, check the ratings). She was very respected and popular as an anchor and reporter at the #1 news channel in Tulsa (KOTV is also one of the best affiliates in the U.S.) Any reporter who has ever been on a story Burt Mumalo was covering, knows how obnoxious he is. Yes he is the best at getting the dirt. Not so much at giving viewers the truth. Maybe that's why all the other stations are overtaking KTUL in the ratings. KTUL won't tell you this was the 2nd complaint TPS had filed against BM in a matter of weeks. They also won't tell you there were two or three other reporters and cameras there when BM hijacked the interview. We all have the raw tape of the interview too; but none of us ran it because it's not the story. We all got answers for our viewers because we were out to get the truth, not revenge. A spokesperson (especially one who was an experienced reporter) should have the right to end an interview he or she can tell is intended to MAKE news, rather than report it. Many of us in the industry applauded when we watched the tape of Tami shutting down BM's monopolizing of an interview that was intended for several reporters.

Well, hopefully their has been enough people cry out about the situation that it will move TPS into some real action now. We all need to pray for the child, and her family as well as our school districts. If we want to see change, PRAY!!!! because PRAYER does change things. Perhaps, Tami Marlar should review the tape and watch herself and see if she can honestly see what the rest of us see, which is a deeper issue it seems she has with channel 8 or perhaps just Burt himself . She exuded with discomfort, and she did very much show what looked to me like she had a great disdain for Burt. Anyway, any one that reads this could you please answer me this 1--DID TAMI GET FIRED OR DID SHE QUIT FROM CHANNEL8? 2-- WHAT WAS THE REASON? if anyone knows the answer to these questions I would appreciate it if you would respond to this.

I agree with gem. However, Tulsa Public Schools has a long history of looking the other way and sweeping things under the rug that makes them look bad. My 28 year old son quit school at age 16 and went on to get his GED because TPS did nothing to protect him from the gangs that were jumping him at school. My youngest now attends alternative school after being assaulted 4 times last year and nothing was done about it.Keep up the good work Ktul and don't back down. There has to be changes at TPS and the way I see it these changes aren't going to happen unless they are forced to do it.The district's answer for parents who try to talk to them and make them do something to protect our children is to label them as trouble makers. If you want to know what is really going on at your child's school talk to them about more than what they did in class that day. They know what goes on and don't let the schools tell you not to listen to them because they don't want you to know what actually happens there.

The reason channel 8 is pointing out what they did wrong is beacuse everyone just sits back and says nothing then they won't fix what was mishandeled if a future event happens. I believe that everyone is concerned about the child who was harmed and the reason parents need to be informed is to protect the rest of the children from a similar occurance. They can inform the childrens parents without singleing out the child who was harmed. The reason for the big stink is beacuse they didnt inform parents and how are we as parents going to protect our children without the full story?

Yep, this sounds like TPS. I have no children in the Tulsa district right now but 15 years ago this was one of the reasons I moved out of the school district when my children were in school. You could not then, and apparently still, cannot get a straight answer from these people. I believe this type of treatment to be systemic in the district and probably an unwritten policy to keep the district and parents informed ONLY when they are forced to. This is their way to keep the district looking like they are more proactive and unblemished as much as possible.

From the beginning of this incident TPS employees, one being Tami Marler (I believe thats her name) has attempted to downplay this incident. I watched the video several times and believe she treated the channel 8 reporter more than shabbily. She was rude and this was apparently due to the fact she either didn't want to answer the questions or didn't have the information and was embarassed. Either way, in my opinion, her job performance was poor. If there was another reason she treated the reporter this way she certainly handled it incorrectly and this is what the result is. As I have been told countless times, perception is reality. And she should know this.

A couple of years ago my 1st grader was coming home on school field trip. The bus driver tried to out run a train on a very busy rail road crossing. Because of the traffic behind the bus and the signaling arms down over the front of the bus it could not go any where. The train was approching fast and some very horrified parents watched from a quicktrip too scraced to move. Luckily the train was traveling on the opposite track and none of the children or teachers were hurt. The school principle tried to sweep the incident under the rug, but too many mother's saw what had happened. Parents were not notified and had it not been for the parents who witnessed the incident the school would have gotten away with it. I think it is the schools job and duty to inform parents about anyhting that might harm thier child. I do not like TPS But because we live and work in Tulsa we have no choice but to send our children to Tulsa Public Schools. I think Bert was right on with his questioning of Tami Marler and I believe her answers were vague and misleading. No, I don't think she should be fired, but ,I think the people who sit in the big chairs, and decied what the parents should know and what the parents should not know should be. I just hope we can all direct our attention away from misinformed parents and think about the innocent little girl who was assulted in the very place she should feel safe in.

Iam going to scream if these parents just don't SHUT UP. THEY WANT TO KNOW, WO WHAT WHEN AND WHERE. iF IT WAS MY CHILD I MIGHT NOT BE SO EGAR TO TELL THE WORLD WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CHILD. POING FINGERS, OTHER CHIDREN TALKING, IT WOULD BE SO MUCH HARDER ON THIS POOR CHILD. I KNOW PARENT WAN TO KNOW BUT GIVE US A BREAK, CONSIDERING HOW THIS ALL HAPPENED I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY COULD STOP IT. IAM SO HAPPY THE CHILD SPOKE UP AND TOLD HER TEACHER. SHE WAS TAUGHT WELL. THIS IS ALL WE CAN HOPE FOR, THAT OUT CHILDREN SCREAM OUT, NOT HIDING IN SHAME. ITS A FEARFUL THING BEING AFRAID TO LET A CHILD OUT INTO THE WORLD ONLY TO FEAR HORROR HAPPENING. IAM SORRY, PEOPLE WHO HURT A CHILD SHOULD BE PUT AWAY 'FOREVER' I DON'T KNOW IT ITS CURABLE BUT I AM NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE CHANCE.

You're kidding, right Daniel? Channl 8 is reporting what the principal DIDN'T do and that was inform the parents about what happened. Then, they conveniently send out a letter two days later throwing the police under the bus. Then the police say NO WE DIDN'T. So, who really is on the parents' side here? Channel 8 is looking out for us parents who apparently the principal didn't think needed to know.

Daniel Ellis Thompson
Why are all the other news stations reporting about the school district investigating what the principal did and didn't do, but channel 8 is still beating their chests to be the champion of the people against the big bad man? They are out to find a dirty secret smoking gun but maybe this was just a bad situation handled poorly by a principal who had no experience with a child being molested on her watch. Seems like the superintendent is looking for answers and wants to close the obvious gaps, but 8 would rather continue on their witch hunt to justify their poor coverage. As it turns out, the molestation probably couldn't have been prevented. Now let's let TPS focus on fixing the problems that happened after the fact. And how about you focus on the real story...how a family guy with no previous record turns out to be a perv?
