Tulsa - Police are working around the clock to catch a serial burglar that has hit dozens of businesses -- some even twice.

The latest break-in took place at the Smoothie King near 71st and Mingo. Police say the suspect didn't get away with much, just an empty cash register.

But, it's the same way he's broken into 44 other businesses, sometimes getting away with cash, laptops and his favorite item -- a flat screen television.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video from a bank on South Sheridan which was broken into earlier this month. He threw something heavy like a brick through the glass door, ran inside and grabbed the flat screen.

From break-in to getaway was two minutes tops.

"He's getting away because he's doing it so fast," says Tulsa Police Corporal Josh Martin.

It's the same way police say he's broken into dozens of other businesses just this past month and a half. Scott Rumley is with Prime Industrial Recruiters, another one of the burglar's several victims.

"They came and only went for the flat screen televisions that they could get off the walls and get out with very quickly," says Rumley.

The business wasn't hit just once, but twice. The first time, the burglar snatched one off a wall, dragged it down the hall and out a window. The second time, two flat screens were ripped off a wall in the lobby.

"And after that, it was what can we do to make this place Fort Knox?"

Now, they've spent more money beefing up their alarm system.

"If a mouse moves in this building, it's going to go off," Rumley says.

But, police say despite the alarms, he's been hard to catch. And, that's why they are beefing up, too.

"We have several detectives out extra hours, middle of the morning, late at night trying to catch this guy," Martin says.

And, they could use your help. If you see the suspect, or someone selling flat screen televisions at an apartment complex or out of a car, call police.

"I have no doubt in the world that we're going to catch this guy," says the police corporal. "It's just how many businesses are going to be hit before we catch him."

Police say they don't know if the suspect has a getaway car and don't know if he's casing the place beforehand or at a moment of opportunity. Meanwhile, businesses are urged to write down the serial numbers on all of their electronic devices.
