Tulsa - It doesn't feel like Christmas today. But, it's definitely top of mind. A new poll shows 20-percent of people have already bought a gift. And a lot of local businesses are ready to support that trend.
Early holiday shopper Jerri Lee has half her Christmas shopping already done.
"They've got deals and merchandise everywhere, so why not," Lee says. "It's early, it's beating the crowds, I'm on my lunch hour."
Karin Ragsdale says she shops early to stay away from the big Christmas crowds.
"For several years now people have been shopping the day after Thanksgiving and it seems like from that time on it's very crowded," she says.
Karin adds shopping early means there's still plenty of merchadise to choose from.
Retailers say they expect a better Christmas shopping season this year. And, while buyers are frugal, they're still ready to celebrate the season of giving.
Getting a head-start on the shopping may help people save money. Many say they plan to spend less while 70-percent plan to take the time to do their homework and compare prices.
