Tulsa - Two Oklahoma-based companies are making news when it comes to job security.
According to Yahoo Finance, Devon Energy and QuikTrip are two of nine businesses on Fortune magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For that have never undergone layoffs.
The publication says with unemployment expected to surpass ten-percent, job security is one of employees' top desires in their place of employment.
Devon was number two on the list. It is an oil and gas producer headquartered in Oklahoma City. Yahoo says Devon takes a conservative approach to its finances, yet still treats its employees well.
QuikTrip is based in Tulsa and is fourth on the list. Yahoo Finance points to the fact that the company is privately held and that it can send profits back to its stores and workers instead of shareholders.
The publication also says "smart financial management has helped (QuikTrip) thrive in the downturn" and that the company offered more than 14-hundred jobs last year. More than two hundred of its employees have been with the company for more than 20 years.
The other seven on the list were Nugget Market, Aflac, The Container Store, NuStar Energy, Stew Leonard's, Scottrade and Publix Super Markets.
