Tulsa - Annika Niemeier, Katie Richardson and Kasey Langdon scored goals as fifth-seeded Oklahoma State opened Big 12 tournament play with a 3-0 win over the fourth seed Nebraska Cornhuskers Wednesday in San Antonio, Texas.
Niemeier scored in the 11th minute for a 1-0 lead. The goal was her team-leading tenth of the season and came off the pass from Langdon.
Richardson added to the lead when she blasted one off the far post and into the back of the net in the 38th minute. Langdon's goal came in the 75th minute, her fifth of the season and first in more than a month.
The Cowgirls then left it up to freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Franch. After being named All-Big 12 First Team goalkeeper, Franch made five saves to set OSU's single-season shutout record with her ninth of the season.
"We're obviously happy with the win and to win it 3-0 is a great job by our kids against a tough team," said coach Colin Carmichael said. "It's always a battle when you play Nebraska, and I thought our kids stood up to it really well and played enough quality soccer to win."
With the win, the Cowgirls advance to the semifinals for the fourth straight season. They'll play the winner of the Missouri-Kansas match Friday at 5:30 p.m.
