Tulsa - A final round 301helped the TU women's golf team move from tenth into a tie for seventh at the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational in Kahuku, Hawaii.
The Golden Hurricane's final round score was the fifth best of the day Wednesday. Tulsa's three-day total was 38-over par 902 -- 34 shots behind the leader, UC Davis, which won the tournament by nine strokes over second place UCLA.
Tulsa was led by Kristina Merkle, who shot a final round two-under 70 to finish even par for the three-round tournament. That was good enough for a tie for fifth in the individual standings.
Shu-Yin Liu tied for 26th at 11-over 227, Marita Engzelius was tied for 35th at 13-over 229, Abby Alford was tied for 39th at 14-over 230 and Sarah Elliot was 79th at 24-over 240.
USC's Lizette Salas won medalist honors at eight-under 208. She won the event by five strokes over San Jose State's Cristina Corpus.
The tournament was the final one of the fall season for Tulsa.
