Tulsa - The Oral Roberts women's basketball team started their season Tuesday night with a 104-57 exhibition win over Southeastern Oklahoma State and the star of the game was true freshman guard Kevi Luper.
Luper scored 24 points and had seven steals and five rebounds in her first game with the Golden Eagles. Kevi was Oklahoma's Gatorade Player of the Year at Adair High School and was NewsChannel 8's Elite 8 award winner as the area's top player.
At Wednesday's ORU media day, Kevi talked about making the move up from high school to major college basketball.
"It's definitely a level up there, but it's been good. I think I'm adjusting well. I mean definitely a freshman, so I'm a little nervous and scared out there, but I'm getting it, slowly."
Head coach Jerry Finkbeiner talked with us about his prized recruit.
"She's probably the most decorated player we've ever had come here to ORU in all divisions, player of the year last year, Gatorade Player of the Year. And, she's one game into her young freshman season and she's proven that worth."
The Golden Eagles open the regular season on November 13th at home against Texas-Pan American.
