Tulsa - It's been a strange year for the Jenks Trojans. Despite an eligibility scandal that caused them to forfeit nine wins from last season, the team kept its head up, running over, around and through all ten of its regular season opponents.
The winning streak continued as the Trojans handed Sand Springs -- a team having just dealt with its own eligibility violation -- a 56-21 setback Friday night in Sand Springs.
Earlier in the day Friday, Sand Springs (4-6, 2-5 District 6A-3) was forced to forfeit their 28-24 win over Claremore because of the use of an ineligible player. That meant no matter what the outcome of Friday night's game, the Sandites would miss the playoffs.
Jenks (10-0, 7-0) dominated on both sides of the football -- racking up 353 yards rushing while forcing five turnovers -- including four interceptions of Sand Springs quarterback Johnny Deaton, who became the first Ford Award nominee to lose the game after earning the nomination.
Jenks put 28 points on the board in a span of just over eight minutes. Zack Langer scored the first two of the touchdowns while the other two came on passes from quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen.
Langer's third score of the night came a couple of minutes into the second quarter to give the Trojans a 35-0 cushion before the Sandites finally got on the board with an 8-yard run from Terrance Dixon.
Jenks led 42-7 at halftime after Kollmorgen tossed his third scoring pass of the night with just 37 seconds left until the half.
The Trojans put it on cruise control in the second half and picked up their tenth straight victory.
Cory Jones led the Trojans with 162 yards rushing. Langer carried just seven times, but picked up 116 yards and three touchdowns. Brandon Williams added 77 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Kollmorgen completed 8-of-9 passes for 89 yards and three scores before sitting out much of the second half.
Deaton was harrassed by the Jenks defense all night. He completed just 11-of-29 passes for 161 yards and one touchdown while being intercepted four times. He was also sacked once.
Dixon led the Sandites with 86 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
