Lincoln, NE - Landry Jones was intercepted five times and the Sooners were held to the fewest points ever under head coach Bob Stoops in a 10-3 loss to Nebraska Saturday night in Lincoln.
The Sooners lost despite limiting the Cornhuskers (6-3) to just 180 yards of total offense, seven first downs and just 1-of-14 on third down conversions.
Nebraska scored the only touchdown of the game after the first of Jones' interceptions. It ended up in the arms of Prince Amukamara, who returned it 22 yards to the one yard line. On the next play, Zac Lee hit Ryan Hill with a one-yard TD pass.
The OU offense didn't have a hard time moving the ball, but couldn't capitalize when it did. After the Cornhusker touchdown, the Sooners moved to the 20 yard line, but were stopped short on a fourth and one to end the drive.
Oklahoma finally got on the scoreboard when Tress Way converted a 28-yard field goal with just 24 seconds left in the first half.
But, Way missed on three other field goal attempts of 46, 45 and 42 yards.
The Sooners' second half drive chart was a study in futility. It read: three and out, interception, punt, missed field goal, interception, turnover on downs, interception interception.
The three points are the fewest ever scored under head coach Bob Stoops and the fewest points the team has scored since being shut out in 1998 at Texas A and M.
Jones had his worst day as a Sooner, completing 26-of-58 passes for 245 yards and no touchdowns. The five interceptions are the most thrown by an OU quarterback since Jack Mildren tossed five in a 21-7 victory over Wisconsin in 1970.
The loss drops the Sooners to 5-and-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12 Conference. OU returns home next week to face Texas A and M, which suffered a 35-34 setback at Colorado Saturday.
