Tulsa - A man is dead after gunfire rings out early Sunday morning at an east Tulsa apartment complex.

Shortly after 6:00 a.m., Tulsa police arrived at Polo Club Apartments near 41st and 129th E Ave. to find Hassan Faried Smith lying near one of the buildings.

Officers said they received a call from 23-year-old Tyrone Fails. He said he had just shot Smith outside his apartment. Police found Fails and his girlfriend inside his unit when they got to the complex.

EMSA paramedics pronounced Smith dead at the scene. It's unclear as to Fails' motive for shooting him, but he and Smith had been arguing just before the shooting began, police said.

He is being held at the Tulsa County Jail on a single first-degree murder complaint without bond.
