Coffeyville, KS - Two teenage students at a Coffeyville high school were arrested Friday after a demonstration that got out of hand.
It happened at Field Kindley High School. Faculty and staff said they had learned that a group of students were planning a 'walk-out' and demonstration in protest of personnel actions that had been taken or were about to be taken against two of the school's teacher/coaches.
When officers arrived at the school, they found a large group of students gathered on the first floor and that several of the students were disruptive and appeared to be inciting the situation. Police and school staff began asking students to return to their classrooms.
Two students -- a 17-year-old and 15-year-old -- were arrested after police say they refused to return to their classroom and that the 15-year-old resisted arrest.
Officers stayed in the area until about 4:30 p.m. because a group of students continued to protest in the area surrounding the school.
