Tulsa - Tulsa middle school students could be in for a longer school day next year.

Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard says it's an effort to improve grades by extending learning time.

The district will hold a community forum Wednesday at noon at the Education Service Center to discuss the potential change.

If approved, the changes would take effect next fall.

Okay - but the parents who work during the daytime won't be able to come.  Extending the school day is fine, but you still have to reduce class size, make sure resources are available to the teachers, and teach to the level of the students - which means providing extra teachers for ESL AND for gifted & talented kids.  What good does it do my kid to stay in school extra hours if that just means he's going to be bored for longer?
