Tulsa - Traditional NCAA Division II wrestling powerhouse and sixth-ranked Central Oklahoma defeated NAIA 14th-ranked Oklahoma City 31-to-3 Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City.
The only OCU win came in the 157-pound weight class, where Nik Turner earned a 7-2 decision over UCO's Eden Bernstein. Turner is the third-ranked player in the NAIA at 157 pounds.
At 125 pounds, Central Oklahoma's Casy Rowell defeated Kidd Gomez 7-1; at 133 it was Trison Graham over Cameron Ream 10-4 and Scott Berens earned a 7-2 decision over John Lynch in the 141-pound weight class.
At 149 pounds, Central Oklahoma's Austin Standage won 4-1; at 165 it was Derrick Adkins 7-1 over Mark Meyer. Cody Rowell earned an 11-4 decision over Andrew Pontikes.
At 184 pounds, Kenny Meredith scored a first-period fall of OCU's Marvin Lewis at 2:11. It was the only pin of the evening.
At 197, Jarrett Edison earned a major decision, 13-4 over Jake Mabry and Dustin Finn won his match at 285 pounds, 8-to-3 over Corey Johnson.
Central Oklahoma returns to action Saturday morning at the Nebraska-Omaha Open while Oklahoma City will host Neosho County (KS) at 8 p.m. Thursday.
