Tulsa - Oklahoma State senior quarterback Zac Robinson is one of five finalists for the 2009 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
The award, presented to the nation's top senior quarterback, is named after Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas, who led the Baltimore Colts to a win in Super Bowl V and won three NFL MVP awards.
Robinson is second in the Big 12 and 23rd in the nation in pass efficiency with a 142.55 quarterback rating and is seventh in the Big 12 Conference in total offense at 222.4 yards per game.
He has completed 63.5 percent of his passes for 1,922 yards and 15 touchdowns in ten games this season while guiding the Cowboys to an 8-2 record, 5-1 in the Big 12 and a number 12 ranking in the Bowl Championship Series standings.
He has set OSU career records for passing yards, touchdown passes and total offense this season.
?This is a great honor to be included on the list of finalists for the Johnny Unitas Award,? Robinson said. ?You look at the other names on the list and you see some of the best quarterbacks out there, so I?m flattered to be considered on that level. Any time you?re a finalist for a big award like the Unitas, it means that you play for a good team. Any recognition you get should be looked at as a team honor instead of an individual one.?
The other finalists are Colt McCoy (Texas), Tim Tebow (Florida), Dan LeFevour (Central Michigan) and Thaddeus Lewis (Duke).
The award will be presented to the winner December 11th in Baltimore.
