Retired Teacher Dies in Accidental Shooting

Sheriff Bruce Curnutt says 59-year-old Carl Joe Griner died Saturday in the shooting outside his home.
Curnutt says Griner told a friend he was going to kill an armadillo that had been damaging his garden. The friend said she heard a gunshot and when she went outside to check on Griner she found him on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Curnutt says it appears Griner tripped over a garden hose and as he fell the weapon fired.

I want to apologize to the family and friends of Joe Griner. That was an ignorant comment, and I regret making it. This is clearly a terrible tragedy which didn't deserve a flippant remark. I want to extend my condolences to everyone involved.
