Tulsa - Tulsans are expected to turn out in droves for the newest installment of the Twilight saga, "New Moon".
Opening weekend for the movie is expected to rake in 100-million dollars. It has already had the biggest pre-sale of any movie. So, why the craze? We went to Starworld 20 in Bixby to find out.
All eight showings at midnight tonight are sold out. There is also a 2:40 a.m. showing, but tickets for it are also going fast.
At FYE in Promenade Mall, it's all Twilight all the time. The store is stocked full of "New Moon" merchandise and it's going fast -- from Edward Barbie dolls to 3D posters, even key chains.
For those of who don't what we're talking about, Twilight is a book series that has now been turned into a movie series. It's about real-life vampires living among us with a love story twisted in. Human teenage girl "Bella" falls in love with vampire teenage boy "Edward."
But the series is not just capturing teen audiences.
"Twilight has affected all age categories," says FYE Store Manager Marty French. "I've seen 12, 13 year old girls and 45 year old women coming in here swooning all over Edward."
The midnight showing doesn't start for hours, but already folks are lining up, including Rachel Kollmorgen and Alexa Sidorakis who began camping out at 3 a.m.
"The first time we saw the commercial we started screaming and eyes watering and we kept rewinding it and then we'd play it again and we'd scream and we literally cried," Rachel says.
It's a craze that only teenage girls can describe best.
"We're going to sprint in there and get our seats and probably bawl," Alexa says.
For all you parents out there who just don't get it -- think Beatlemania. Only for Rachel and Alexa, it's "New Moon" mania.
