Tulsa, OK - Many schools are facing tough economic times, but one is planning to expand.
State funding is down across the board. So many districts are dealing with potential layoffs and larger classes. But one district planned for tough times and is now planning to grow.
Union Schools are planning to move the 10th graders over to the high school. They also want to create a collegiate academy designed to get seniors ready for college.
The money to pay for the projects will come out of a bond issue that will be put to a vote in February.
Union Superintendent Dr. Cathy Burden says, the school system has been planning for tough times.
"We are also having issues, of course, with the budget, but we've been planning over the last couple of years and we're OK for this year," she says.
Union also says they want to build their 14th elementary school some time around 2014.
