Tulsa - Michael Stum scored 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Valley Forge Christian to an 89-76 win over Southwestern Christian Thursday night on the first night of the Hersha Hospitality Big East Classic in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
SWC played extremely well in the first half, forcing several turnovers and cashing them into easy points. The Eagles went into halftime with a 48-44 lead.
But, the lead wouldn't last. Five minutes into the second half, VFC pulled ahead and never trailed again.
The turnovers that turned into 16 points in the first half dwindled to just two in the second stanza and after shooting 53-percent in the game's first 20 minutes, SWC shot just 31.3 percent in the second half.
The Eagles will stay in Phoenixville for game two of the Hersha Classic against Davis College Friday at 4 p.m.
