Tulsa - After throwing for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the second half to lead Oklahoma State to a 31-28 come-from-behind victory over Colorado Thursday night, Brandon Weeden has moved up on the depth chart.
Head coach Mike Gundy announced that the 26-year-old sophomore quarterback earned the number two spot behind Zac Robinson, who sat out last night's game due to lingering effects from a big hit in last Saturday's win over Texas Tech.
Weeden had been the third stringer coming into last night's game. But, starter Alex Cate struggled through an 0-for-9, one interception first half and was pulled at halftime.
Gundy had said Weeden and Cate were essentially even on the depth chart, but had said that Weeden often appeared bored during practice. He says he hopes given the chance to play, Weeden will be encouraged to study and prepare better.
The 12th-ranked Cowboys are 9-and-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12 Conference heading into the season finale against Oklahoma in Norman on November 28th.
