Tulsa - At his weekly press conference Tuesday, Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops said there is no panic in his Sooner program, even though his team is 6-and-5 as they prepare for Saturday's Bedlam game.
The five losses suffered by the Sooners are the most in a regular season in Stoops' eleven years in Norman. Now, instead of trying to prepare to win a fourth straight Big 12 title, the Sooners are desperate to finish with a winning season and go to a minor bowl game.
Stoops isn't feeling sorry for himself. But, he says he does feel bad for his seniors.
"These guys have been an awesome group of seniors," Stoops said. "Just great attitude kids. Just can't brag on them enough. They're always positive, a happy bunch. They've been really good leaders. Though they've had a little bit of it chopped off having not been able to play for a good part of this year."
"I appreciate their commitment," he added. "The attitude they brought to the team. It's just a great work ethic and humble guys, go to class, just a really strong group of kids."
Those seniors will play their final game in Norman Saturday, hosting the 12th-ranked Cowboys for Bedlam at 11:30 a.m. If you can't make it to the game, you can watch it live on Fox Sports Net.
