Tulsa - USAO dug themselves a huge hole early and it was too much to overcome as the Drovers suffered a 73-66 setback to Southeastern Oklahoma State Wednesday night in Durant.
The Savage Storm (1-3) scored the game's first 12 points and led by as much as 18 before the Drovers scored ten straight points to cut the lead to 39-31 at halftime.
Southeastern once again pushed the lead to 17 points in the second half. But, again USAO didn't fold, going on a 15-to-3 run to trim the advantage to 56-51 with 8:17 remaining.
Four minutes later, Southeastern completed an 8-0 run to pretty much put the game away. While USAO whittled the lead back to seven at the final buzzer, the outcome was well in hand.
All five Savage Storm starters scored in double figures, led by Mychal Horn, who scored 17 and played 39 minutes. William Slones and Jordan Lee each added 14, Chibuzo Elonu scored 11 and had ten rebounds and Chris Roussell chipped in ten.
USAO's Fred Savoie led all scorers with 19 while Aaron Daniels added 18 off the bench.
Southeastern will play again Saturday at home against Southern Arkansas. USAO (1-2) will travel to Lawton Friday to begin play in the Cameron Classic.
