Tulsa - Down by 14 in the second half, West Texas A and M outscored Panhandle State 30-to-16 over the final 11:27 to force overtime, but the Aggies prevailed in overtime, 77-71 Wednesday night in Goodwell.
The Aggies (1-3) trailed by six early before getting back-to-back three-pointers by Marcale Marshall and Cale Hoffman to jump back in it. By halftime, Panhandle State led 31-27.
In the second half, the Aggies scored 11 of the first 13 points to lead 42-29 with 14:39 remaining. The lead grew to 46-32 on a jumper by Kevin Geofroy with 11:27 left before the Buffs turned the tide.
Alex Davis' jumper with 8:25 cut the lead to single digits. Later, a three-pointer by Chris Tucker pulled the Buffs within three.
WTAMU took the lead on Joe Mincey's jumper with just over a minute left, but Marshall knocked down a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to force overtime.
Mincey gave the Buffs a 64-62 lead in overtime on two free throws. But, Marshall scored six straight to start a 9-0 run by the Aggies that quickly gave Panhandle State the momentum.
Reggie Lassiter scored seven points, including several free throws in overtime to help lead OPSU to the victory.
Marshall led all scorers with 25 points while Lassiter added 16. Geofroy scored ten points and Trayvon Williams had eight points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Nick Burns led West Texas A and M (1-3) with 15 points.
Panhandle State will return to action December first at home against Barclay.
