Tulsa - Mike Burgoyne's shootout goal gave Missouri a 5-4 win over the Tulsa Oilers in a Thanksgiving Day game at the BOK Center Thursday.
The loss is the first for Tulsa since November seventh -- a string of seven straight victories.
The Oilers took a 1-0 lead in the first period on Derek Eastman's powerplay goal. But, Burgoyne added his own powerplay goal eight minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
In the second period, Missouri picked up a pair of quick goals from Nick Sirota and Jeff Christian to lead 3-1. Tulsa's Rob Hisey scored shorthanded to send the game to the third period with the Oilers trailing 3-2.
Tulsa regained the lead as Michel Beausoleil and Aaron Davis scored within the first three minutes of the third period.
Chad Hinz scored at the 11:25 mark to pull the Mavs even again and send the game to overtime.
Neither team could dent the scoreboard in the OT period.
In the shootout, both teams' first shooters -- Missouri's Bill Vandermeer and Tulsa's Dan Riedel -- scored. The next two rounds were scoreless before Burgoyne put one past Kevin Armstrong for a 2-1 advantage.
Tulsa was backed into a corner when Beausoleil came up empty. Aaron Davis had to score to tie things up again, but Mavs goalie Alexandre Vincent came up with the big save to give Missouri the win.
Tulsa will play again Friday night at the BOK Center against Texas. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
