Sooners To Play West Virginia In Fiesta Bowl
posted 7:30 pm Sun December 02, 2007 - Norman
The Oklahoma Sooners made their bid to be in the BCS title game with a 21-point win over the number one team, Missouri in the Big 12 Championship game Saturday night. But, it just wasn't enough.
Oklahoma will instead play in a BCS Bowl -- the Fiesta Bowl -- against last week's number two team, West Virginia.
The Sooners and Mountaineers have played three times previously. The last time came in 1982 -- a 41-27 win by West Virginia in Norman. Oklahoma won the other two meetings -- 52-10 in 1978 and 47-14 in 1958 -- both in Norman.

In the BCS Championship game, it's Ohio State, which hasn't played in two weeks, against LSU, which won the SEC title game 21-14 over Tennessee.
In the Sugar Bowl, Hawaii, which was the nation's only undefeated team, will play Georgia. In the Orange Bowl, it's Virginia Tech against Kansas. And, in the Rose Bowl, USC will take on Illinois.
