After 42 years as part of the Tulsa landscape, the Camelot Hotel is finally coming down. Demolition crews began work Thursday morning on the east wing of the building. A giant mechanical jaw took bites out of the top rear rooms as it made its way down through the back.
Dump trucks below were loaded with debris to be hauled away.

Spectators lined the street behind the hotel to take pictures to mark the demise of the 330-room landmark.
The hotel has been vacant for more than ten years and many say it had become an eyesore.
In June, QuikTrip finalized plans to take over the location. A new convenience store -- the company's 500th -- will soon take over the current Camelot location.
