More than 10 percent of this year's Oklahoma high school freshmen chose not to take the recommended ACE college-prep curriculum. But students still can be college-bound if they choose to follow the basic core curriculum instead of ACE, which stands for Achieving Classroom Excellence.
The Department of Education says more than 50 percent of freshmen in Canadian County's Union City opt out of the ACE curriculum.

But the Education Oversight Board Office of Accountability reports that a higher percentage of Union City High School students go on to college than the state average, which is 52 percent.
More students chose not to follow the ACE curriculum in the Cave Springs School District in Adair County than in any other district -- 73 percent.
