Heidi Contreras runs a wonderful art school in Brookside. And, she was thrilled to give our waiting child, Sarah, her first official lesson. And, to top it off, Heidi was very impressed in Sarah's talent.
For fun, Sarah loves to paint and collect pretty rocks that she finds on the playground. She spends time with her girlfriends listening to music and playing video games... and Sarah is a big animal lover.
"I like cats, dogs. I love kittens the best. Why? Cause they're so cute when they're little baby cats. They're just adorable."
This coming school year, Sarah will be in 8th grade special education classes. She is developmentally delayed, but is quite independent in daily living skills. However, because of a special medical need, DHS says she does require close supervision.
Sarah is fun to be with and dream about the future. She'd love to visit Florida someday.
"what do you think you'd like to do when you're in Florida? Get pampered and go to a spa."
It would be great if Sarah could be an only child and in a single mother home. But, DHS will definitely consider a two parent home, with or without older children. Whoever adopts Sarah will need to be understanding of her special needs and ready to give her lots of love. In return, they'll find a loving child, who wants nothing more than a special place she can call home.
NewsChannel 8's Carole Lambert hopes you'll call DHS Child Welfare for more information on Sarah. The number is 581-2195.
