Oral Roberts women's basketball assistant Eric Ely has been named assistant coach at Oregon State, the school announced Monday.
Ely spent the past four seasons with the Golden Eagles and also had a previous stint with ORU from 1998 through 2004. From 2004 to 2007, he was an assistant at Missouri.
"Eric has been a good friend of mine for 30 years," said Oral Roberts head coach Jerry Finkbeiner. "We're happy for him to have the opportunity to coach out West and wish him the best."
In Ely's nine seasons with ORU, the Golden Eagles made four trips to the post-season, including three NCAA Tournament trips.
He joins new head coach Scott Rueck at Oregon State. Rueck was named head coach last month, taking over for LaVonda Wagner, whose team went 11-and-20 last season.
Just a year earlier, the team was 20-and-12 and made the NIT Tournament.
"I am excited to add Eric to our staff," said Rueck. "He is a veteran of the game as both a player and coach, and he brings an immense amount of coaching and recruiting experience at the Division I level to our program. Eric is an incredible person, extremely talented and is highly respected in our sport."
