Denver, CO -
Former Tulsa Drillers outfielder Brad Hawpe and the Colorado Rockies have parted ways.
The team released Hawpe Wednesday in a move that will allow them to add a pitcher to their bullpen.
Hawpe had been with the Rockies for seven seasons and had hit 118 home runs, including a career-high 29 in 2007. He also drove in 116 runs that season as Colorado advanced to the World Series.
But, this season, he was batting just .255 with seven home runs.
In his final at-bat with the Rockies Wednesday night, Hawpe had a single in a pinch-hitting role.
