
Sterling Copeland scored the go-ahead goal just before halftime as Oral Roberts rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Northeastern State 3-2 in an exhibition soccer game Saturday at ORU Soccer Complex in Tulsa.
Northeastern State took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute on a goal by Michael Wilson. The Golden Eagles knotted the score 18 minutes later when Aaron Douthit scored off the assist from Kalen Ryden.
Copeland's goal came less than ten minutes later and Gary Arauz added another less than four minutes into the second half for the eventual game-winner.
The RiverHawks got within one on a goal by Josue Garcia in the 68th minute, but NSU couldn't get another one past Golden Eagle goalkeeper Andrew Techanchuk, who finished with three saves.
NSU goalkeeper Matt Murrell made seven saves for the RiverHawks.
ORU plays another exhibition game next Saturday at Tulsa before opening the regular season on September first at Central Arkansas.
Northeastern State opens the season September tenth at Wichita Falls, Texas against the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
