Mary-Kate Halsmer scored two goals as the ORU women's soccer team improved to 2-and-0 with a 3-1 win over Northwestern State (LA) Sunday in the Crowne Plaza Tulsa Invitational in Tulsa.
The Golden Eagles (2-0) actually trailed 1-0 after an early goal by NWSU's Ashley Savona. It was still 1-0 when Halsmer scored the first of her goals in the 54th minute to knot the score.
Her second goal came less than five minutes later and Lorena Soto added another with just three seconds remaining in the contest.
Oral Roberts held a 12-8 edge in shots, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Amanda Wheeler stopped three of the four shots she faced.
ORU plays crosstown rival Tulsa next Sunday at 7 p.m. at Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
