Jarrett Hamilton scored a goal and assisted on another as the Oral Roberts men's soccer team opened the 2010 season with a 2-1 victory over Central Arkansas Wednesday afternoon in Conway, Arkansas.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when Johnny Chavez put one past Ivan Zarate off Hamilton's pass.
Ten minutes later, Hamilton scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0. The assist went to Gary Arauz.
UCA finally dented the scoreboard in the 65th minute when Alex Ghaffari scored from five feet away off the pass from Nick Figaro.
But, Andrew Techanchuk didn't allow another one, making six saves in 90 minutes in goal.
ORU won despite being out-shot 13-to-9 overall and 7-2 in shots on goal.
Next up for the Golden Eagles is a road trip to Memphis for a game at 7 p.m. Friday. ORU's home opener is Tuesday night against Rogers State.
