Save Money in 2011

Posted: Updated:

2011 is almost here, and many of us will once again resolve to get our finances in order.  We're all looking for ways to stretch our dollar.  Here are a some simple ways to do that:

  • One of your biggest monthly expenses is your cell phone.  And chances are, you're paying more than you should.  A Consumer Reports survey found that two thirds of cell phone owners have more minutes than they use.  So check your plan.  Switching to a more cost effective one could save you hundreds of dollars a year.
  • If you need a little help analyzing your cell phone bill, Billshrink.com and Validas.com are two websites that check for errors, overcharges and compare your current plan with other plans that may help you save some money.
  • Car insurance can also be a big drain on your wallet.  But you could save money with low mileage and good student discounts, as well as raising your deductible.

What a better way to start a new year than by getting your financial house in order.
