Winter is here, but many of us haven't taken steps to save on our heating bills. Here are some ways to get your home ready for the cold. PSO of Oklahoma has a check list to make your home more energy efficient, including:
A check of the insulation in your attic. Up to code, and it could shave 20 to 30 percent off your monthly bill, by one estimate.
One fairly easy thing is to caulk or weather strip your doors and windows.
Close the damper when you're not using your fireplace.
And PSO says you can save 10-15% on your annual heating costs by turning your thermostat down to 68 during the day and 58 at night.
