Christian Friedrich pitched six hitless innings and the Tulsa Drillers held Colorado scoreless until the ninth inning in defeating their parent club 5-to-3 Wednesday evening at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Friedrich (1-0) struck out seven Rockies and walked just two in six innings. In fact, Colorado didn't pick up their first hit until the top of the ninth when the Rockies scored all three of their runs against reliever Casey Weathers.

Tulsa took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Wilin Rosario. Scott Beerer added an RBI single in the fourth and another in the fifth.

Michael Daniel and Ben Paulsen later added solo home runs in the fifth to push the lead to 5-0.

Beerer would finish the night with four of the Drillers' nine hits and two runs batted in. Rosario had three hits, drove in a run and scored twice.

The loss went to Rockies starter Esmil Rogers, who allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits in four and two-thirds innings.

Tulsa plays another exhibition game Sunday against the Oklahoma City RedHawks before opening the regular season next Thursday at home against the Corpus Christi Hooks.
