Thunder To Host Playoff Opener Sunday

Posted: Updated:

The NBA playoffs begin this weekend as the Oklahoma City Thunder open with a Sunday game at home against the Denver Nuggets.

Sunday's contest will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma City Arena.

The Thunder (55-27) are the Western Conference's number four seed, but enter the playoffs as possibly the hottest team, having gone 16-and-4 down the stretch.

Denver (50-32) has also heated up. Before Wednesday night's loss at Utah, the Nuggets had lost only twice in their last eleven games -- both times to the Thunder. Oklahoma City won three of the four regular season match-ups.

Game two in the series will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Oklahoma City before the series shifts to Denver for game three (Sat. April 23 at 8 p.m.) and four (Mon. April 25 at 8:30 p.m.).

Game five, if necessary would be in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, April 27th while Game six, again if necessary, would be in Denver on Friday April 29th.

If the series goes seven games, the finale will be played Sunday, May first in Oklahoma City.

The winner of the series will face the winner of the series between top seed San Antonio and the Memphis Grizzlies.
