She's just a freshman, but Aimee Creger is already a record-holder.
The TU pitcher struck out a dozen Kansas batters to run her season total to 188, setting a new single-season record for the Golden Hurricane.
The 188 breaks the record of 186 that had been held by Jackie Lawrence during the 2009 season.
Creger also ran her overall record this season to 17-and-2 with the 4-2 victory over the Jayhawks.
The victory gave Tulsa a doubleheader sweep of KU. The Golden Hurricane rode the arms of Lacey Middlebrooks and Jordan Kinard, who combined on a five-hit shutout in a 3-0 win in the opener.
Tulsa is now 34-and-11 and will begin a huge weekend series against division leading UAB here in Tulsa. The teams will play a doubleheader Friday with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and a single game Saturday at noon.
