Oklahoma City -
After nabbing his second consecutive NBA scoring title and guiding Oklahoma City to a second straight playoff appearance, Thunder forward Kevin Durant is being honored with the Magic Johnson Award.
The award, handed out by the Professional Basketball Writers Association, is given to the player who combines on-court performance with outstanding media cooperation.
"Kevin is a uniquely skilled individual on the court and his willingness to accept the media responsibilities that go with his place in the game are valued by writers who cover the league," said PBWA President Doug Smith.
Durant earned the honor over San Antonio's Manu Ginobili, Philadelphia's Elton Brand and Chicago's Derrick Rose.
He averaged 27.7 points per game this season to lead the league for a second straight season and has led the Thunder to a 55-and-27 regular season record and a 2-0 lead in their opening playoff series with the Denver Nuggets.
