Tulsa -
The Tulsa Drillers used two big innings in crushing visiting Springfield 14-4 at a soggy ONEOK Field Thursday night in Tulsa.
Tulsa's offensive output equaled that of its previous four games combined and helped the Drillers end a two-game losing skid.
Wilin Rosario snapped a scoreless tie when he led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run to left field, his third round tripper of the season.
Bronson Sardinha followed with a double and scored when Scott Beerer lined a single to center.
It remained 2-0 until the bottom of the fourth, when Tulsa exploded for five runs, including a two-run single by Rob Scahill and a run-scoring triple by Tim Wheeler.
Springfield scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings to cut into the lead, but the Drillers responded with another five-spot in the bottom of the seventh that included a two-run single by Wheeler and a double by Ben Paulsen that plated two more.
Sardinha had three of Tulsa's hits and also scored four times to lead the offensive effort. On the mound, Rob Scahill (1-1) earned his first victory of the season, allowing two runs on six hits in six and two-thirds innings pitched.
The win evens Tulsa's record at 7-and-7. The Drillers are just a game behind division-leading Northwest Arkansas, whose game with Arkansas Thursday was postponed due to thunderstorms.
The Drillers and Cardinals will continue their four-game series Friday at 7:05 p.m. at ONEOK Field.
