The University of Tulsa announced Friday the signing of Eric McClellan, a standout guard from Austin, Texas, to a national letter-of-intent.

We told you earlier this week McClellan gave the Golden Hurricane a verbal commitment, but it didn't take long for him to decide Tulsa was the place for him.

McClellan averaged 18.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game for the Maroons, who went 29-and-4 this season and won the District 15-5A championship.

He was named the district MVP and was named all-Cen Tex first team as well.

"Eric is a very mature young man," says TU head coach Doug Wojcik. "As a player, he has great vision, size and length to play the point guard position on the college level. He has a high basketball ID and is very passionate about the game. Eric is a good shooter who has the potential to be a great shooter."

Tulsa went 19-and-13 this season, just missing the 20-win mark after having won 20 or more games each of the previous four seasons.
