Tulsa -
A throwing error by Springfield first baseman Matthew Adams allowed Wilin Rosario to score from second in the bottom of the 11th as Tulsa defeated Springfield 7-6 Friday night at ONEOK Field.
Rosario led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Then, on a force out attempt at first base, Adams' errant throw allowed Rosario to come all the way around to score.
The Drillers trailed 2-0 in the second inning when Thomas Field smacked a grand slam for a quick 4-2 advantage. The lead grew to 5-2 two innings later when Scott Beerer deposited a solo shot over the center field wall.
But, Springfield would score a run in each of the next three innings to force extra innings.
In the top of the tenth, the Cardinals regained the lead when Jose Garcia doubled, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly.
But, Tulsa stayed alive when Tim Wheeler led off the bottom of the tenth with his fifth home run of the season.
With the win, Tulsa improved to 8-and-7. At the time this story was published, the Drillers were in a three-way tie for first with Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas, who were playing the second game of a doubleheader.
The Drillers and Cardinals will wrap up their four-game series Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
